Brave opens on a bar in a sleepy farming village where two men, Igor and Basile, are having a conversation about their dreams. Based on an autobiographical novel by German World War II photographer Lothar-Guenther Buchheim, the film follows the lives of a fearless U-Boat captain (Jurgen Prochnow) and his inexperienced crew as they patrol the Atlantic and Mediterranean in search of Allied vessels, taking turns as hunter and prey. Divided Heaven (Der geteilte Himmel (1964). After a breakdown, Rita returns to her childhood village. It is 1961. My name was Sabina Spielrein (2002). The history of psychoanalysis is littered with the discarded psyches of the women whose diagnoses were key to the fame of the great masters. One such woman was Sabina Spielrein. Elisabeth Márton’s film relates, restages and remembers the tragic story of Spielrein’s life as gleaned from a box of her papers discovered in 1977 in the cellar of Geneva’s former Institute of Psychology.
