When to Claim Social Security?
Social Security retirement benefits may be the biggest component of retirement income for many people. How and when you claim benefits has the potential to massively alter your financial picture. Do you take benefits as soon as you can, or should you hold out for a bigger benefit at a later age?
During this presentation, Luke will discuss the important things you may want to consider. How are benefits calculated? What happens if you live a long time? What about cost-of-living increases over time? Do you have to worry about taxes? What about spouses, ex-spouses, and survivors? How should we think about Social Security benefits relative to other income and assets?
Luke will explore financial circumstances that might warrant delaying benefits, and situations that might point toward claiming benefits sooner. We’ll discuss qualitative and quantitative considerations. Bring your thoughts and questions on this topic for an engaging presentation and discussion – When to Claim Social Security?
