Local, Sustainable Food
Maybe you already support a CSA and regularly shop at your town’s farmers market. Yet you have the feeling there is still more you can do to support our local farmers and food artisans. Join Chef Katy Sparks for a talk about other “foraging strategies” to deepen our connections with the people who feed us and keep the Berkshires in agriculture. We all have a profound stake in keeping our region a healthy and sustainable food hub for future generations and our individual purchasing decisions can make a huge difference.
Katy Sparks is an award-winning chef and culinary consultant who lives and works in the southern Berkshires after spending over 25 years in New York City. Katy grew up on a small family farm in Vermont and her culinary career was inspired and fueled by her early exposure to local and sustainably raised foods and the people who provide them. She is the host of a video series on YouTube celebrating our region’s farmers and artisan food makers called Edible Natural World and she serves on the board of Berkshire Grown.
